SAI is Dedicated to teaching, organizing, regulating, advancing, and promoting the game of soccer. We provide various levels of play designed to challenge both the individual and team. Our goal is to provide a safe fun environment that encourages the ideas of sportsmanship and fair play.
The Soccer Association of Independence is a member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), and the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA). This Association and the games it sponsors are governed by these organizations and must act in accordance with the guidelines ruling these associations and their members.
We offer 2 sessions per year of 8 games each. The fall session runs from the last week of August to the end of October (with registration in June/July). Spring session is the second week of March to the end of May (with registration in January).
Practice day, time & location is determined by the coach. Many teams do use our practice facility at Van Hook Park.
T-shirts are provided for the U6 division in the fall and to new U6 players in the spring. U6 players returning to the same team for spring will use the same shirt. Each team or coach for U7 and up is responsible for their own uniforms. (more info on uniforms) Players must have shin guards, soccer cleats and the appropriate sized ball for their age. (cleats are not required for the U6 division)
(Fall 2018-Spring 2019)
Age division is determined by the birth year of the player. Players must be at least 3 years old by 7/31 prior to the start of fall or spring season. Players can always play up but can never play down.
Home games are played at the Independence Athletic Complex on Salisbury (just east of 291). Games are scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays. Weeknights may be scheduled for rain out or makeup games.
Ages U9 and up participate with the KC Metro League. You may play up to 4 away games at the home fields of other leagues within the KC Metro area. All U6 games are played at home. U7/U8 could be KCML or In House depending on coach/team.
